Abstract: The sex-determining region Y box protein (SOX), is an active transcription factor, particularly SOX2, which maintains the undifferentiated state of cancer stem cells in many tissues such as the brain. Gliomas are the most common primary intracranial malignancies in adults, and SOX2 plays an important role in the occurrence and development of glioma stem cells. Therefore, SOX2 has a good research prospect in the clinical treatment of human gliomas. In this article, we will summarize the relationship between SOX2 and gliomas, and the relevant therapeutic strategies for the treatment of gliomas using SOX2 as a target.
