Title: Clinical observation of β-radiotherapy for corneal neovascularization
Abstract: Objective To assess the clinical effect of β irradiation treatment on patients with corneal neovascularization (CNV).Methods The clinical effect of β irradiation treatment on 8 patients (8 eyes) of corneal neovascularization by 90Sr-90Y ophthalmic applicator was observed.Visual acuities and intraocular pressure were recorded daily during the treatment.Follow-up time was 1 week,2 weeks,1 month and 2 months.Observe with the slit lamp and took pictures, the clinical effect with corneal neovascularization area computation formula A(mm2)=CH/12 x 3.14[r2-(r-VL) 2][1]were assessed. Results CNV of 6/8 eye was obviously resolved after the β irradiation treatment.Hyperaemia was significantly regressed.Vision was improved or no changed, but no reduced. The radiation dose was controlled in the 16 gy.Contrast pre-and post-treatment appeared recuperative corneal emeda.Significant injury of cornea, anterior chamber inflammation, lens injury, fundus change, local and systemic side effects were not found. Conclusions β irradiation treatment of CNV is safe and effective.May explores the safe dose for bulky blood vessels in further.
