Abstract:Objective To explore the treatment timing for embeddedupper anterior teeth.Methods 20 impacted upper anterior tcethwith ectopic eruption pathway or dilacerated root from 17 orthodontic patients were s...Objective To explore the treatment timing for embeddedupper anterior teeth.Methods 20 impacted upper anterior tcethwith ectopic eruption pathway or dilacerated root from 17 orthodontic patients were selected and X-ray films were taken to determine their position.After creating space by expansion,the teeth were treated with closed eruption techniques before their root development finish.The relative lengths of root were measured after treatment for the impacted teeth and their contralateral teeth.PES index was used to evaluate the gingival soft tissue esthetics.Results Treatments for all the 20 teethwere successful.The mean root lengths for central incisor,lateral incisor and canine were (18.00±2.79) mm、(15.75±1.06) mm and (21.88±2.32) mm respectively,which were slightly shorter than that ofthe contralateral teeth [(20.25 ± 1.66) mm,(18.00±1.41) mm and (23.5±2.58) mm].The mean PES score was 10.65±2.68.Conclusions Closed eruption technique is suitable to treat embedded teeth with ectopic eruption pathway or dilacerated root before root development finish.
