Title: Biomarkers of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Abstract: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease characterized as incompletely reversible and progressively evolving airflow limitation, which is aroused by abnormal inflammation of lung as a respond to cigarette smoke or other harmful gases and particles. Its development involves multiple pathophysiologic processes such as inflammatory response, protease-antiprotease imbalance, and oxidative stress. During the decades of exploration in its pathogenesis, quite a few potential biomarkers were found, which were meaningful in the areas of diagnostic implication, disease course hinting, prognosis forecasting,et al. So in this article we briefly review the researched COPD biomarkers by classification of different biologic specimens.
