Title: Status of Urumqi community hypertensive patients' self-management behaviors and the influencing factors
Abstract: Objective
To investigate the status of Urumqi community hypertensive patients' self-management behaviors and the influencing factors.
Methods
Using random cluster sampling method, five health service stations in five districts of Urumqi City were selected from March to August 2018, and one community was selected from each district as the research site to investigate hypertensive patients registered in the community. General Information Questionnaire, Hypertensive Patients' Self-Management Behaviour Rating Scale (HPSMBRS) , High Blood Pressure-Health Literacy Scale into China (C-HBP-HLS) and Therapeutic Adherence Scale for Hypertensive Patients (TASHP) were used in the study. A total of 605 questionnaires were distributed and 599 valid questionnaires were collected.
Results
The total score of self-management behavior of 599 community hypertension patients was (126.27±19.88) , standardized score was (76.53) , which was at the medium level; the health literacy score was (47.79±14.88) , the standardized score was (79.65) ; the treatment compliance score was (97.23±20.00) , and the standardized score was (77.78) . Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that economic burden, course of disease, health literacy and treatment compliance were the influencing factors of self-management behavior in patients with hypertension, and 53.2% of dependent variables could be explained by independent variables.
Conclusions
The self-management behavior of hypertension patients in Urumqi community is at a medium level, and affected by economic burden, course of disease, health literacy, treatment compliance. It is suggested that medical workers strengthen health education for hypertension patients, which is conducive to improving their self-management ability.
