To observe the preventive effect of intraperitoneal injection of dexamethasone against nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Methods
A total of 120 patients aged 18-40 years and ASAI-II in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from October 2017 to September 2018 were selected for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. They were randomly divided into two groups: intraperitoneal dexamethasone group (group P), intravenous dexamethasone group (group V), with 60 cases in each group. Group P received intravenous injection of physiological sodium chloride solution 2 ml after anesthesia induction and peritoneal injection of 8 mg dexamethasone 2 ml before the end of operation. Group V received intravenous injection of 8 mg dexamethasone 2 ml after induction of anesthesia and peritoneal injection of physiological sodium chloride 2 ml before the end of operation. The anesthesia time, operation time and adverse reactions were recorded. The incidence of nausea and vomiting was observed within 24 hours after operation.
Results
The incidence of nausea 24 hours after operation in group P was significantly lower than that in group V (8.3% vs. 28.3%, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of nausea or vomiting between the two groups. The incidence of adverse reactions in group P was lower than that in group V (21.7% vs. 40%, P<0.05). The most common complication in group V was dizziness and headache.
Conclusions
Intraperitoneal injection of 8 mg dexamethasone can reduce the incidence of nausea after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
