Abstract: Objective
To explore the psychological experience on engaging in employment rehabilitation post in long-time hospitalized patients with psychosis.
Methods
A total of 7 patients were interviewed in depth to obtain information. And then, the data were analyzed by the phenomenology method.
Results
Psychiatric patients all felt that ward management restricted the free when they were in rehabilitation period without being out of hospital. They were willing to engage in rehabilitation work which they could do. During working, they were in happy mood; they could control their own emotions effectively and take reasonable coping modes when communicating with others; they also were confident in recovery of mental disease along with cooperating actively with medication management.
Conclusions
The closed management model should be changed for long-time hospitalized patients with psychosis and simple jobs should be provided. This is helpful to correct patients′ improper cognition and maintain good social functions. Providing rehabilitation post can effectively stabilize patients′ emotions and improve patients′ mental outlook. We should strengthen the understanding of psychiatric patients and save social resources.
