The survival time was 5 to 12 days for animals irradiated with 700 and 1,000 r, 20 and 25 days for two of three animals with 400 r, and over 30 days for an animal with 400 r and ones with below 200 r. Goats irradiated with 100 to 400 r required considerable cumulative doses for lethality. Transient high values of erythrocyte count were often observed immediately after exposure or duning the survival time. A decrease in erythrocyte count was observed in the case of repeated small-dose radiation. Leukopenia began to appear 24 to 48 hr after exposure. Diarrhea always occurred to animals irradiated with 1,000 r, but not to those irradiated with below 700 r. The body weight decreased in animals irradiated with large doses. It increased slightly or remained at the initial level in those exposed to small doses. (auth)Read More
