Title: Publications and authorship in Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering during 2008 to 2009
Abstract: Objective To review the publications and authorship in Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering during 2008 to 2009, and to provide reference data for further development of this journal.methods Bibliometric approach was used to analyze the columns, authors, collaborations, geographic sources, affiliations and funding of published studies during 2008 to 2009 in Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering. Results During 2008 to 2009, a total of 233 papers were published, yielding 211 first authors. Columns, number of publications and funding of published studies were stable. There seemed to be a relative concentration of prolific affiliations. While geographic sources of publications covered a wide range,Guangdong contributed to 74.68% (174/233) of all papers. One hundred and ninety-one authors contributed one paper each to the journal, accounting for 90.52% (191/211) of first authors. 97.5% of papers published in 2008 vs 98.2% of those in 2009 were co-authored, contributing to a cooperation degree of 4.64 vs 5.18.These data showed an ascending trend of co- authorship and cooperation degree over the two years.Conclusion Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering is shown to display a highly academic level and a good quality in publications over years.
