Abstract: Reservoir modeling means construction of a petroleum reservoir model for improving estimation of reserves, predicting reservoir performance, increasing production and making decisions regarding the development of the field. This is a teamwork activity and people of different disciplines (geophysics, geology, petrophysics, mathematics and petroleum engineering) work together to construct the corresponding model. The main purpose of reservoir modeling is reservoir management. Reservoir characterization, building the reservoir model and tuning the reservoir model (history-matching) are the most important parts of reservoir modeling. This chapter explains all sources of data and information for reservoir modeling, reservoir characterization, analytical and numerical models, and techniques for verifying the constructed models.
