Title: Silver nanoparticles for enhanced thermal energy storage of phase change materials
Abstract: This paper deals with the experimental investigation on the impact of silver nanoparticles for the increased thermal energy storage of phase change materials. Paraffin wax is selected as a phase change material. The mass fraction of silver nanoparticles is considered as 0.05% and 0.1%. The melting and solidification characteristics of paraffin wax without and with the Nanoparticles have been studied. The results from the experiments showed that the addition of silver nanoparticles in paraffin wax lowers the melting and solidification temperatures of phase change materials. The increase in the concentration of silver nanoparticles in phase change materials enhances the ability of thermal energy storage of the materials. The outcome of the present experimental investigation recommends the addition of nanoparticles in phase change materials to be considered for the performance improvement of solar energy systems.
