Title: Study and Evaluation of Digital Circuit Design Using Evolutionary Algorithm
Abstract: Evolutionary algorithms are being widely used for various engineering and non-engineering applications. Several evolutionary algorithms have been proposed in literature for optimization of hardware resources. Crossover is considered as one of the stages of evolutionary algorithm. In this paper, an attempt is made to bypass crossover stage of evolutionary algorithm to optimize hardware resources for digital circuit design. The proposed approach is evaluated for various digital circuits and these results are compared with the results obtained using evolutionary algorithm with crossover. It is observed that the hardware resources are reduced by 2.90% to 33.33% on using the proposed evolutionary algorithm without crossover. The proposed design is capable of including/excluding any resource depending on the requirement of the designer.
