Abstract: This chapter considers what we know about effective practice for combating racism, racial prejudice and racial/ethnic discrimination. We examine interventions that have resulted in measurable reductions in racism and related outcomes, with a focus on intergroup contact, training and education, communications and media campaigns, and organisational development. 'Backlash effects', where anti-racism approaches can unintentionally increase racism, are also discussed, including how to minimise them. We conclude with an overview of emerging anti-racism strategies and recommendations for future research directions.
