Upon heating, this precursor loses the ligands in separate steps, leading to the format...The Cover shows the result of an in-situ XRPD measurement of a precursor that consists of a simple aqua complex. Upon heating, this precursor loses the ligands in separate steps, leading to the formation of ligand deficient intermediates. During this reaction the Mn(NCS)2 units continuously condense into corrugated single chains in the first, linear double chains in the second and layered Mn(NCS)2 in the third step. These results are part of the paper of Tristan Neumann et al., where the syntheses, crystal structures and properties of a number of coordination compounds based on Mn(NCS)2 and 4-picoline are reported.
