Title: Conclusion: China and Latin America in the Global Political Economy: The Development of a New Core-Periphery Axis
Abstract: The chapter concludes that China became a key player in the world economy because its production model stimulated the growth of the rest of the world's economies through of a virtuous circuit of investment, production, and market. The rise of China's economic presence in Latin America was the result of the "Struggle for Modernization". China specialized its Latin American semi-periphery and periphery partners and replaced the exports of manufactured goods in exports to third markets. However, at the present, there is no other world-class power to replace the growing role that China has in the international economic insertion of Latin America. Some of the strength factors that underline China's economic boom are an expression of the weaknesses of the countries in the region. What Latin America should focus on China should not be just investment, trade, and technology, but the "political economy" generated by the rise of China.
