Title: [Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery – a technique for everyone?].
Abstract: Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery - a technique for everyone? Less invasive procedures are being developed within all surgical specialties. In cardiac surgery, minimally invasive surgery is mainly suitable for mitral valve disease. It is a technically more complex procedure compared to standard cardiac surgery. All complex procedures have a learning curve and the surgeon must be exposed to an adequate number of procedures per year in order to obtain good results. When introducing minimally invasive cardiac surgery we recommend measures to be taken including internal concentration, collaboration with established centers and training abroad in order to obtain the highest standard of care.
