Title: Study of Ore and Coke Distribution in Blast Furnace Carried Out on a Full Size Model
Abstract: The distribution of are and coke burden composed of pellet and sinter has been investigated using afidl size model.Falling trajectory of mater ials was measured in both the model and a blast filrnace, and the equation of the trajectory to be applied to the design if charging equipment was led theoretically. It was found that the inclination of are and coke layers varied with charging sequence and dumping volume. It was clearly shown that the radial distribution qf are and coke depended on coke volume, are to coke ratio in charging burdens, charging sequences and pellet contmt in burdens. Results of the model investigations were applied to commercial blast furnaces. The distribution of are to coke ratio with gas flow was calculated with the results of full size model alld the are to coke ratio was shown to be reduced at the central /Jart with a high gas flow velocity in blast furnace .By comparing the resuits of a full size model with those of a one-tenth reduced model, it wasfoulld that the mixed layer of are and coke wasformed alld the are to coke ratio was decreased ill the central part of the reduced model. It was reasoned that the ratio if particle weight of are and coke should be taken as one of the scaling factors in the reduced model.
