The current study investigates the role of the mass media as a social institution in shaping and reconfiguring our understanding of the issue of media and gender. In addition, this theoretical approach reveals the interplay of media and society that helps scholars to examine the gender issues. Results revealed shows developments in women's recognition of the media as institutional apparatus that intensify their status, representation and gender issues.
