Abstract: Traditionally, the mylohyoid is described as running from the mandible to the hyoid, but it does not always extend to the hyoid bone. The digastric is frequently divided by a tendinous inscription. The stylohyoid can be absent unior bilaterally; it can also be duplicated. A supernumerary geniohyoid is known as the superior geniohyoid muscle of Ferrein. Infrahyoid muscles vary considerably in the extent of their development. Except for the omohyoid, they can be classified as a rectus muscular system; the omohyoid is considered as an obliquus internus muscular system of the trunk muscles of the neck. A different form of levator glandulae thyroidea includes fibers of the inferior pharyngeal constrictor muscle to the thyroid gland. The cleidocervical or levator claviculae muscle travels between the transverse process of the cervical spine and the clavicle in the posterior cervical triangle, and is found in 2-3% of individuals.
