Abstract: Richard Billingham presented the key note address titled 'Family Photographs 1990 - 2007 at the symposium 'The Ethics of Photography' on Saturday 10th February 2007 at the Yale Center for British Art, 1080 Chapel St. The symposium explored how the ethical concerns of those who make and those who view photographs have changed throughout the history of the medium, as well as its contemporary practice. Talk topics included Photography as Propaganda, Liberties, Taking Pictures and American Images and Icons of War from the Civil War to the Present. Speakers at the symposium included curators, archivists and practicing artists. There was also an open studio session with M.F.A. candidates in photography at the Yale School of Art.
