Drag is consisted of two components: parasitic drag and induced drag. Induced drag is a byproduct of lift production, mostly on aircraft wings, and makes a major part in total drag of an aircraft in certain part of flight. Wing tip vortices are closely related to induced drag and can be very dangerous to other aircraft which are operating in the vicinity of an aerodrome. While designing an aircraft and studying its performance, it is important to know how each part of an aircraft influences induced drag, both individually and combined with other parts, so that only the best parts can be used.Read More
