Title: Developmental Anatomy Study on the Root of Arctium Lappa
Abstract: Developmental anatomy of the Arctium lappa root is studied. The results showed that the cells of endodermis have five thickened walls in the primary structure of the roots of Arctium lappa.Opposite to the outside of the primary xylem ridge are passage cells. The activities of vascular cambium produce secondary vascular tissue that contains a large number of parenchyma. The activities of supernumerary cambium in the secondary phloem produce a certain amount of vascular tissue. The activities of cork cambium produce a great amount of phelloderms that are irregular in shape. The fleshy tap roots are the result of the above three activities.
