The strong depositional differentiation of different rifting cycles is the main reason for production reservoirs being far away from source rock and forming far-source charging and accumulating reservoirs in Melut Basin. Multi-stage rifting cycles made Melut Basin develop abundant oil-source faults connecting Lower Cretaceous source rock and Paleogene traps, which provided important vertical migration pathways for far-source reservoirs. The Upper Yabus Fm. is a favorable exploration layer of far-source lithologic reservoirs, and fault-lithology combination traps are the potential drilling targets.Read More
