This chapter outlines the role tax plays in facilitating the SDGs. If countries are serious about achieving their SDGs, a comprehensive evidence-based approach to tax is needed to foster and complement other areas of development. The chapter focuses on the identification of major goals and key factors that impact these goals. This inquiry should aid all stakeholders in developing and implementing tax policy in developing countries. Tax system reform is needed in many developing countries to alleviate the negative effects of taxation and finance investment in education, health, and infrastructure. Technology is potentially the greatest weapon for a developing country in the fight for better tax systems. Blockchain is an exciting technology that offers tax administrations enhanced coordination with taxpayers.
