Title: PMS47 SEXUAL FUNCTION IN PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS: A PATIENT REPORTED OUTCOMES REVIEW
Abstract: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) may impact patient's sexual life due to multifactorial disease-related factors. To date, there are no reviews on patient reported outcome (PRO) in sexual function for PsA patients. The objectives of this study were to identify studies assessing sexual function in PsA patients, to identify PROs used to evaluate sexual function, and to evaluate their psychometric properties for use in PsA. A literature review was conducted in MEDLINE and EMBASE to identify English published studies during the last 10 years. Search strategy included PsA and sexual function or sexual dysfunction related terms. Studies were included for PsA patients or mixed indications (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, spondyloarthritis) which included PsA and if they evaluated sexual function in the clinical or real-world settings. Review articles were excluded. PROs measuring sexual function were identified from the studies and evaluated following the 2009 FDA PRO Guidance. Twenty-six studies were identified; five studies met the inclusion/exclusion criteria. All studies were observational and evaluated the following: 1) disease burden of erectile dysfunction (n=1); 2) impact of sexual dysfunction on global and sexual-specific quality of life (n=3) and 3) factors associated with sexual dysfunction (n=1). Two sexual function PROs, International Index of Erectile Dysfunction and Female Sexual Function Index, were identified. Based on fit-for purpose analysis according to the 2009 FDA PRO Guidance, both measures do not meet the validation criteria for PsA population. This review demonstrated that studies evaluating the impact of PsA on sexual function are limited. Current PRO measures used to capture sexual function are not validated in PsA population. Additional research is needed to develop PsA specific measures for assessing sexual function.
