Title: DYNAMICS OF THE UKRAINE-SLOVAK INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS AT THE MODERN STAGE
Abstract: The article analyzes the current state and general dynamics of Ukrainian-Slovak relations starting from 2014, in particular, due to the prism of new threats to the national security of Ukraine. The issue of development of interstate relations for Ukraine in view of the events of 2014 is extremely relevant in the context of protecting Ukraine’s national interests. The idea of good-neighborliness of Ukraine and the Slovak Republic as the first-level neighbors remains the main value that contributes to the formation and development of relations between this independent states and sovereign peoples over the last decades. Modern Ukrainian-Slovak cooperation is characterized not only by the commonality of the historical destiny due to the fact that insulting countries once were the parts of much larger federations (Czechoslovakia and the USSR), but also by an important strategic interest, based first of all on the fact that those states are neighbors of the first level. In this regard, the author considers the state of institutional support for cooperation, as well as the type of interstate relations, which according to the hypothesis is built on the principle of an interaction in the direction of implementing common strategic objectives. The fundamental value and key factor in maintaining of good relations between Ukraine and the Slovak Republic is to strengthen stability and security in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, especially in the context of the emergence of new security threats and geopolitical tensions in the world. The commonality of the border, the revival of energy and political relations, the absence of serious contradictions on the foreign agenda and the support of the Slovak Republic of domestic reforms in Ukraine makes it relevant to analyze and forecast the dynamics of Ukrainian-Slovak intergovernmental relations at the present stage.
