Title: Su1223 ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND GUIDED RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION OF INSULINOMAS IS SAFE AND EFFECTIVE
Abstract: Insulinomas are insulin-secreting neuroendocrine tumors and represent the most common functional neuroendocrine neoplasms of the pancreas. Up to 90% of insulinomas have a benign behavior, meaning that there is no locoregional involvement and that there are no distant metastases. Nevertheless, even if considered "benign" these tumors can produce severe symptomatology and life threatening hypoglycemic events. Complex surgical procedures with high morbidity and occasional mortality are the treatment of choice. We present our experience using an endoscopic ultrasound guided minimally invasive approach with a new, through-the-echoendoscope radiofrequency ablation (RFA) device.
