The aim of this research was to investigate essential oil content and composition of myrtle leaves which were at different ontog e- ny stages. Essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation method using Clevenger apparatus, the oils were analyzed by GC-MS. Highest content of essential oil were recorded from young leaves. Thirty and twenty constituents were identi- fied in young and mature oil leaves which represented 97.8% and 99.51% of the oils, respectively. In these two ontogeny stages α-pinene (34.0-42.8%), Limonene (4.0-23.2%), 1, 8-Cineole (20.5-23.2%), Linalool (9.210.1%), Linalool acet ate (5.9-7.3%), were identified as main components.Read More
