Title: Collaboration Road : Dubai’s Journey towards Improved School Quality - A World Bank Review
Abstract: Dubai has an exceptionally large private education sector. 9 out of 10 students’ study in private schools in one of 17 different school systems (UK, US, IB, Emirati, Indian, Pakistani, German, French, and so on). The report Collaboration Road: Dubai’s Journey towards Improved School Quality studies how Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the government entity that oversees this sector, has encouraged private schools to collaborate by putting into place four initiatives to do so. The What Works, Living Arabic, Lighthouse and Abundance projects are ways for schools to meet, work together, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. The report looks into how this collaboration works to improve school effectiveness, teacher professional development, and eventually student learning outcomes.
