Title: Impact of Electric Vehicles integration on residential demand response system to peak load minimizing in smart grid
Abstract: Recently, the concept of smart grid is developed in the future power system and attracted attention worldwide. With the appearance of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) technologies, demand response programs are potential topics in residential applications. This paper investigates the contribution of PEVs in demand response for smart households' application. In this context, a "PEV contribution for residential demand response strategy" is developed. This algorithm is proposed to decrease the peak demand ensuring a flattened demand profile. The main contribution of this study is to employ suitable scheduling scheme by shifting schedulable appliances from peak to off-peak hours. This strategy aims to highlight furthermore the impact of PEV integration in demand response by determining the required PEV power to be absorbed during the off-peak periods (home-to-vehicle technology) or injected during peak hours (vehicle-to-home technology) in case of lack or excess in power consumption, respectively. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm to fulfill a smooth power curve.
