Abstract: Deze thesisopdracht is verworven via het Kenniscentrum hospitality en in opdracht van Summercamp Heino geschreven. Summercamp Heino heeft in het najaar van 2014 het Ecodrome gekocht en wil daar onder de naam TiZwolle dagrecreatie gaan aanbieden aan jongeren en jongvolwassenen. Het kenniscentrum werkt samen met de Provincie Overijssel aan het project Kracht van Gastvrij Overijssel. Het doel van deze thesis is om een innovatief en onderscheidend concept te ontwikkelen voor indoor dagrecreatie waarmee TiZwolle commercieel succesvol kan zijn. Het advies is uitgebracht in de vorm een Product-Markt-Partner-Combinatie welke kansrijk en realistisch is en tevens bijdraagt aan de beleving van Zwolle.
In dit adviesrapport wordt antwoord gegeven op de hoofdvraag: “Welke invulling van dagrecreatie en PMPC vormen samen een innovatief en onderscheidend concept voor het paviljoen van TiZwolle?” Aan de hand van deze hoofdvraag zijn 5 deelvragen geformuleerd die helpen bij het beantwoorden van deze vraag. Deze deelvragen worden beantwoord door middel van het theoretisch kader, deskresearch en het veldonderzoek. In het theoretisch kader zijn de kernbegrippen (segmenteren, service design conceptontwikkeling, klantbeleving, Product Markt Partner Combinaties en cultuurtoerisme) van deze thesis uitgewerkt.
In de deskresearch is onderzoek gedaan naar de bevolkingssamenstelling van Zwolle, recreatiegedrag van zijn bezoekers en trends, ontwikkelingen en innovatieve spelers op de markt. Uit het onderzoek blijkt dat het creeren van een unieke belevenis zeer belangrijk is. De combinatie tussen vermaak en educatie speelt hierbij een grote rol. Slimme technologieen en experience musea vormen een interactieve combinatie tussen recreatie, ontdekken, leren en ervaren. Ook de bezoekers van Zwolle zijn op zoek naar deze combinatie. Cultuur en educatie zijn twee veel voorkomende motieven evenals ontdekken en nieuwe ervaringen op doen. Er zijn verschillende innovatieve concepten die als inspiratie kunnen dienen voor deze thesis. Een groot deel van deze bedrijven/attracties maakt gebruik van slimme technologieen en probeert, elk op zijn eigen manier, een unieke beleving te creeren voor zijn gasten.
Het veldonderzoek is verricht door middel van kwalitatief onderzoek. Er zijn aan de hand van de service design methode workshops georganiseerd waarin de doelgroep zelf kon mee ontwikkelen. Het doel van het veldonderzoek is het in kaart brengen van de behoeftes en wensen van de doelgroep om zo een concept te kunnen ontwikkelen dat niet alleen innovatief is maar ook gewenst en daarmee potentieel succesvol. Aan de hand van de resultaten van de workshops zijn er 4 type recreanten te onderscheiden. De Family Guys, de Ongedwongen Genieters en de twee belangrijkste: de Trendsetters and Thrill Seekers en de Cultuurgenieters. Zoals ook bleek uit de deskresearch is ontdekken, ervaringen opdoen, iets nieuws leren en geprikkeld worden erg belangrijk. De doelgroep wil zich kunnen ontwikkelen en stelt zich graag open voor nieuwe ervaringen. Interactie wordt door beide groepen genoemd als een ‘must’. Er is behoefte aan een attractie die inspireert en uitdaagt.
Op basis van de resultaten van het onderzoek zijn er 3 mogelijke scenario’s gecreeerd in de vorm van een PMPC. De 3 scenario’s zijn: Virtual Experience Zwolle, Unlock Zwolle en TiZwolle Indoor Survival In The Dark. Deze scenario’s zijn aan de hand van verschillende criteria getoetst. Hieruit is gebleken dat het meest geschikte scenario de Virtual Experience Zwolle is. Dit scenario speelt in op de behoeftes en motivaties van zowel de Cultuurgenieters als de Trendsetters and Thrill Seekers, is realistisch en haalbaar, speelt in op trends en ontwikkelingen van de recreatiebranche en draagt daarnaast van alle scenario’s het meest bij aan een positieve beleving van zowel TiZwolle als Zwolle stad.
