RTS,S malaria vaccine could provide major public health benefitsIn a World Report, Paul Adjepou1 highlighted that World Malaria Day 2019 was marked by a major step forward: the start of the large-scale pilot implementation of the world's first malaria vaccine, RTS,S/AS01 (Mosquirix; GlaxoSmithKline, Belgium), in Malawi. Despite the substantial progress in the fight against this disease in the past decade, one death due to malaria still occurs every 2 min, and 2017 data2 suggest that the decline in mortality is slowing.
