Title: Relationship of Employee Performance with Intrinsic Rewards & Motivation
Abstract: In today’s era, for an organization to meet its obligations and values towards its shareholders, employees & society, top management must make sure that it develops a strong relationship between the organization and employees that fulfills the continually changing needs of both parties. On a minimum level the organization expects employees to perform its assigned task with reliability and up to standards, also to follow the rules that have been established to govern the workplace. Management often expects employees to take initiative, supervise themselves, continue to learn new skills, and be responsive to business needs. In return, employees expect their organization to provide fair pay, safe working conditions, and fair treatment.
My study basically focuses on the relationship of intrinsic motivation and rewards. Traditionally employees were not given rewards and nothing was done for their motivation to work. Now the competition has increased so much that organizations seek to attract, retain and motivate the human resource. There is also a lot of job switching amongst the fresh graduates and those in early years of doing job. This has been seen as a threat to the organization as talent might go to competitor. After all it’s the human resource that makes the organization successful. In my study, the age group is mostly 21-30 years of age.
