Abstract: The development objectives of the Water Security Development Program Project for West Bank and Gaza are to improve quality of water supply services in the project areas; and strengthen the capacity of selected institutions. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) verify right-of-way continuously as a follow up to the design and planning phase measures, prior to installation of water pipelines; (2) apply best management practices during construction to minimize the impact on air quality from dust and emissions; (3) limit noise to acceptable magnitude and duration, particularly near sensitive receptors; (4) install and maintain soil erosion and sediment control measures, such as swales, grade stabilization structures, dikes, waterways, filter fabric fences, and sediment basins until erosion concerns are eliminated; (5) ensure that surface water and ditches are protected from spillages, construction waste and spoil, particularly if used as source of water for irrigation; (6) special care and planning shall be taken where transmission pipelines excavations and installation will be performed, for tight roads, busy roads and near public buildings such as schools and worship buildings; (7) built drawing of buried electricity cables should be submitted to the contractor wherever is available; and (8) ensure that municipal waste garbage containers are relocated, if necessary, in a safe and accessible location in order to facilitate the work of municipality for maintaining regular municipal waste collection schedules.
