Title: Data Base for a Computable General Equilibrium Model of the Agricultural Sectors of the United States and Mexico and Their Interactions
Abstract: This paper documents the data base for a 28-sector, agriculture-focused computable general equilibrium (CGE) model of U.S. and Mexican farm programs and trade policies. The data base for each country in the U.S.-Mexico CGE model includes: a social accounting matrix (SAM), data on domestic farm programs, data on trade policies (tariffs, export subsidies, and tariff equivalents of quotas), and elasticities assumed for production and consumption functions. This report presents the data base and describes sources of the data and the computer programs that generate a balanced SAM for each country.
