Point force expressions to account for this difference are summarized. A point force model for dispersed two-phase flow in a pipe with two-way coupling is derived. Source terms for the acceleration densities have been estimated from experimental results. The state of development of the flow and a radial drift velocity determine the lateral migration of particles in turbulent, co-current pipe flow. The dependence of mean pressure drop on particle concentration is determined from the axial momentum balance. Kuerten and Vreman (2018) formulated an alternative force model in which the fluid velocity seen by the particles is redefined and in which the model coefficients result from analysis and direct numerical simulation.Read More
