Title: National highway route Sydney to Brisbane 1981
Abstract: An 'inventory' type survey of the national highway route from Sydney to Brisbane via the new England highway has shown that it is well below standard, with very little improvement since a similar survey two years earlier. The length of barrier line and number of advisory speed signs for substandard curves has been substantially increased since the previous survey. Considerable construction work is under way between Sydney and Newcastle, but only 5 per cent of the rural length north of Newcastle is currently affected by roadworks and most of this work will not result in additional lanes (a).
