Title: Analysis of Ultra-short Wave Propagation in Atmospheric Duct
Abstract: Aiming at the phenomenon of Ship-borne AIS over-the-horizon communication in some area in the Yellow Sea in June 2, 2018, which influenced by atmospheric duct, the atmospheric duct is calculated by using the atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles measured at that time. According to the calculated atmospheric duct environment, the parabolic numerical equation model and the AIS coverage evaluation model are used to analyze the maximum distance of AIS in the atmospheric duct environment. The results show that this method can be used to evaluate the maximum range of AIS and other ultra-short wave equipment under complex refraction environment conditions such as atmospheric duct. Meanwhile, it also shows that the characteristics of atmospheric duct can be inferred based on over-the-horizon communication distance of AIS.
