Title: FULL-TIME STUDENT TRAVEL TO BOLTON INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Abstract: The paper gives the results of a survey made in 1981 to establish the patterns of travel by full-time students attending the Bolton Institute of Technology. The questionnaire survey used and the response to it are discussed. Questions asked included: domicile of respondent, journey distance and usual mode of daily travel to the institute, car availability and method of financial support. The effects of travel distance and car availability on modal choice (car, public transport, cycling or walking) are analysed. Factors associated with car availability were investigated and these included student's income, travel distance, sex of student and type of residence (home-based or non-home based). (TRRL)
