Title: The Concept of Life in Heidegger's Early lecture Courses
Abstract: Life, factical life, historical life, absolute life, life in and of itself, life-world, lived through and pre-theoretical life experiences, vitality of life or liveliness ( Lebendigkeit ), the primacy, and the origin of life - these are all central themes in early Heidegger's lecture courses from 1919 co 1924. The transcripts of these courses also record Heidegger's several, albeit brief, references to the most prominent philosophers of what then was called life-philosophy or Lebensphilosophie : Bergson, Simmel, Nietzsche, and of course, Dilthey, as well as Heidegger's polemical rebuttals of the detractors of life-philosophy and defenders of academic philosophy, notably Windelband and Rickert. Prima facie , this supports the thesis that early Heidegger is on his way to his own version of life-philosophy, more specifically, a life-philosophy along phenomenological lines.
