Title: Impact of Cyber System Failure on Cascading Blackout of Power Grid
Abstract: Cyber system is indispensable in guaranteeing the security operation of power system, which reminds the need to analyze the impact of cyber system failure on power grid cascading blackout. According to different functions, the cyber system is divided into three parts, which are monitoring, controlling and protecting respectively. Then, the states of the cyber system and the physical system are sampled to simulate cascading outage based on failure probabilities of the power components and the failure model of the cyber system. Finally, the proposed method is verified on the IEEE RTS-79 system. The numerical results show that cyber system failure usually accelerates cascading blackouts, and the loss of blackouts increase with the increase of failure probability of cyber system.
