Specifi cally, setting goals can help athletes
prioritize what is most important to them in
their sport and subsequently guide daily practices by knowing what to work on. The two
quotes below; the fi rst one from an athlete,
and the second one from a coach, demonstrate
the important roles that goals can have on an
athlete’s drive to be successful, and also thatsetting goals can provide focus and direction.
