Title: Difusão da arquitetura moderna: a obra do arquiteto Antônio Luiz Dutra de Araújo em Teresina
Abstract: The paper discusses the introduction and development of the modern architectural production of the city of Teresina, which gained strength belatedly, when the Brazilian Modern Architecture had already reached its consolidation.In this process the modern architecture produced, acquired some peculiarities in relation to the great centers of the country, due to temporal lag, to the geographic, social, cultural, economic and climatic characteristics.Specifically, the work intends to survey, analyze and interpret the modern production of Antônio Luiz Dutra de Araújo from Minas Gerais, since the time he arrived in the city of Teresina, capital of the state of Piauí, in 1968.Diffusion and acceptance of the modern architecture in the city, being emblematic of the mentioned characteristics, because present in his work, being responsible for the development of a large volume of projects such as banks, hospitals, schools, clubs, as well as numerous residences.Through the architect's work, we intend to build an understanding of the beginning and acceptance of modernism in the city, verify its diffusion and affirmation taking into account the events in the city and in Brazil.
