Title: Conceptualizing Coopetition Strategy As Management Innovation
Abstract: In this paper we attempt to respond to the question: Is coopetition a new way of looking at interfirm relationships? To do so, by presenting coopetition as management innovation, academic contributions have shaped the way for the coopetition idea to be able to spread. Our intent is to examine the contribution that academia has made in shaping and implementing coopetition strategies. Furthermore, we present the socio-cognitive model underlying the understanding of coopetition. This systematic understanding will help us appreciate the novelty of coopetition vis-à-vis separate competition and cooperation practices as well as the contextual and organizational features that support the new practices, structures and processes around which coopetition strategies revolve.
