Title: Estimating 3D S-wave Velocities from 9C Shallow Seismic Data Using Local Rayleigh Wave Dispersion Curves – A Field Study
Abstract: Summary We performed a 3D 9-component (9C) shallow-seismic survey in Rheinstetten, Germany. By extracting and inverting a total of 242 Rayleigh-wave dispersion curves, we obtained a 3D S-wave velocity model. The 3D S-wave velocity model shows the existence as well as spatial variation of the main geological feature, namely a refilled trench from the 18th century. A comparison between an estimated S-wave velocity section and a GPR profile, as well as observed and simulated seismic waveforms, prove the reliability of the estimated model.
