Abstract: Abstract : One of the major unsung accomplishments of the Second World War was the creation and operation of the remote weather stations in the Artic. This study traces the growth of the Army's Weather Service and the development of the weather stations which were organized to support the efforts of the North Atlantic Ferry Routes. The study describes the Weather Service's expansion, the many problems encountered in both establishing and operating these North Atlantic stations, as well as some of the evolutionary changes which occurred during the war years.
