Title: On the “Concept” of Lathouse in the Work of Jacques Lacan. Psychological, Clinical and Social Implications
Abstract: This article aims to clarify, within psychoanalytic theory, the meaning of the “concept” of lathouse, as proposed by Jacques Lacan in 1970. This term has its roots in ancient philosophy but describes our modernity by articulating the combined effects of the discourse of science and the discourse of capitalists. The “lathouse” is the latest form of the object, described by Lacan almost fifty years ago. In what way does this object still concern us today?
