Title: Faculty engagement and participation in the context of an international accreditation project
Abstract: The international accreditation is a challenge for any Latin American institution. It should be managed as a project and it requires the participation of all faculty members within an academic department and program. In this paper the role of faculty members from the Industrial Engineering IE Department at Universidad Icesi in the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate International Accreditation (ABET) is explained following the Human Resources (HR) knowledge area processes related to the PMBOK R guide. It is important to make a clarification; this approach was selected in order to explain to the academic community how faculty members (team required to support the project) was organized and aligned in order to facilitate the project completion, but is a posteriori exercise. Considering the ABET accreditation initiative as a project helps us to put the international accreditation in language that we as faculty members and administrators would understand.
