Title: Studying the importance of heat transfer induced stresses in convective drying
Abstract: The aim of this work is to study the importance of heat transfer induced stresses in convective drying process. A mathematical model to simulate the drying process has been developed. The investigated problem involves highly coupled equations considering heat, mass, and mechanical aspects. The numerical solution is performed to foresee the variation of heat and mass transfer induced stresses. The model was validated for a Kaolin sample in convective drying. Simulation results showed that the heat transfer induced stress are significantly less important in compression to the mass transfer induced stresses such that it can be neglected in simulation.
