Baltimore is chosen for this proposal for its predominant housing type: row h...This thesis will pursue the urban interpretation of the modern day minimal existence derived from the Tiny House Movement. Baltimore is chosen for this proposal for its predominant housing type: row houses. Minimal dwellings built to house harbor workers cheaply, the row houses have become derelict in large numbers. Renovation and rethinking of this typology can preserve Baltimore’s identity and reinvigorate the fading city.The Tiny House is not a universal dwelling. Entirely evident with the people who do inhabit these structures, there are particular groups who are more wooed by the idea than others. Each social group has their own program, and therefore their own interpretation of the Tiny Home; however, they also have their own angle of community influence. A view of Baltimore will be made possible through the lens of the Tiny House, defining the current quandaries and potential directions for the city.Read More
